Imperium Flavius

Imperium Flavius

Flavius is an interesting brick on many fronts. It's one of a series of 4 bricks from the Imperium Range. It comes in two different styles - the RF, and the Iluzo. The RF style is sandard in shape. Where as the Iluzo format has a cut-out on the top of the brick, meaning when it's laid, you see no mortar, a 'mortarless look', unique to NZ. This distinction can be seen throughout different projects around NZ.

The colour of the brick itself is actually brown - the grey is a special 'engobe' that's fired onto the brick during the production process, then the brick is tumbled. This results in a naturally 'mottled' effect once the brick is up on the facade. We supply bricklayers with 'touch-up' mortar, which is essentially dabbed onto the brick to mitigate the mottling effect if desired.

This neutrality of this particular shade of grey means Flavius pairs well with almost all other cladding/interior materials, and looks particularly good alongside dark cedar cladding, for example. It's certainly one of our most popular bricks.
