May Newsletter II

Good Afternoon, We would like to thank everyone who attended our Karapiro site walkover – it was a great success! If you missed this one, our next site walkover will be in Taupo so we will keep you posted on that.

In this newsletter, we would like to share a few progress photos of our projects – more on the Karapiro Boatshed, New Plymouth & Martinborough e4’s and the beginning of Taupo.

The e4 is a concept developed by Wienerberger to build small & efficient homes – warm, cool, durable and 100% natural. With just 100m2 on the ground floor – once finished at a later date the entire home becomes 220m2 with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms & 2 living areas – all within the original superstructure. It becomes a very economic way to build and can also be home/income or multi-level for two families.

We hope you will enjoy following our projects – almost every day we read about the poor quality of our homes and the devastating effect this is having on our emotion & health. Our vision is to follow the European way of building highly durable & sustainable homes to last well beyond hundreds of years.

Thank you for receiving this newsletter. If you would like to talk to us about building with Porotherm, we would love to hear from you!

This is an exciting Porotherm project for us all! The family is passionate about water sports, sharing their hospitality and love of life. Building a Porotherm boatshed with accommodation upstairs is just the start of their huge vision. The extensive 6m walls make room for their boat. The view from upstairs is fantastic!

The midfloor panels are installed ready for pouring. Next, the upstairs blocks will be lifted up and installed. The Internorm joinery, manufactured in Austria and will create a fabulous thermal building envelope upstairs.

The view of Mt Egmont is breathtaking! The upper level blocks have been installed, trusses going on ready for the roof and Internorm UPVC/Aluminium joinery in dark grey is ready to be installed. Very exciting!

The blockwork has gone up perfectly again – ready for the trusses and roof. The upstairs will be fully developed in this e4 to allow for home & income – air B&B. A total 220m2 house – acoustic, breathable, solid, healthy and warm

The joinery has been installed and looks fantastic with the clay roof tiles. The lime plaster has been painted using Solar Farbe mineral paint in Resene ‘Eighth Stonewall’. The interior lime plaster will be Resene ‘Half Tea’ and ‘Natural’. Boen timber floors yet to be installed…we will keep you posted.

INTERNORM JOINERY – Profile KF500 in dark grey UPVC/Aluminium

Internorm is Europe’s number 1 manufacturer of triple glazed joinery. With an R-value of 1.6, there is no need to worry about condensation or moulds ever! Installed into Porotherm breathable clay & lime walls it creates the most energy efficient building well below passive house criteria. To read more about Internorm or see our thermal report click here.

e4 POLAND – Simple farmhouse with gables. The asymmetry is appealing providing interest and variation. No soffits – just simple, clean lines.

e4 ROMANIA – A more interesting, modern take on a small efficient home. Here you can see the thermal sink.

e4 UK – Making full use of the typical UK ‘loft’ this is a fantastic way to create medium density dwelling – going up to three and a half levels.

We have on our website a page full of Wienerberger’s projects around the world.
